Volunteer with SEBP
SEBP exists because people across policing, academia, government, charities and industry believe that evidence can help improve policing.
We are a small charity with a big mission: to support the use, production and communication of evidence in policing. Much of what we do is made possible by volunteers who give their time, expertise and energy to help us reach more people, share better evidence, run events, support projects and grow a national community of evidence-minded professionals.

Why volunteer with SEBP?
Volunteering with SEBP is a chance to contribute to something with real public value. You will be helping to strengthen evidence-based policing across the UK and support the people working to improve practice on the ground.
As a volunteer, you can:
-
Build your professional network across policing, research and public safety
-
Develop skills in events, communications, research, engagement, project work or organisational support
-
Contribute to national conversations about the future of policing
-
Help translate evidence into practical resources for practitioners
-
Work alongside people who care about improving policing through better knowledge and better decision-making
-
Gain experience that can support your professional development
-
Play a visible role in a growing national charity
Volunteering can be flexible. Some people support a specific event or project. Others take on a more regular role as part of one of our teams. We know people are busy, so we aim to match opportunities to the time, skills and interests people can realistically offer.

What volunteers help us do
SEBP runs on volunteer power. Our volunteers help with:
-
Regional activity and member engagement
-
Webinars, conferences and events
-
Communications, blogs, newsletters and social media
-
Research summaries and evidence translation
-
Project support and programme delivery
-
Organisational development, administration and governance support
Whether you are an experienced practitioner, researcher, student, analyst, communicator, organiser, or simply someone who wants to help, there may be a way for you to contribute.

Who we are looking for
We welcome expressions of interest from people who support SEBP’s mission and want to help improve policing through evidence.
You do not need to be an expert in evidence-based policing. Curiosity, reliability and a willingness to contribute are just as important. We are particularly interested in people who can bring practical skills, lived professional experience, regional knowledge, research expertise, communication skills or organisational support.
