At the Modernising Justice Conference last week, our Chief Operating Officer, Matt joined a CGI panel exploring why sustained change across criminal justice remains so hard, even when the problems are well understood.
The discussion focused on the fact that the criminal justice system is not really one system: it is a set of organisations, priorities, data environments and ownership boundaries that often make reform difficult.
The panel also looked at where AI may help, not as a magic fix, but as a way to test ideas, understand pressure points and help the system learn faster.
From SEBP’s perspective, the key question is whether AI-enabled change can be made legitimate through evidence, evaluation and a clear link to better justice outcomes.
